La
Leche League
Sometimes you need a little help. La
Leche League offers free mother-to-mother breastfeeding information

International
Lactation Consultant Association - Find a Lactation Consultant
Sometimes you need even more help!
This is the place to turn when your situation requires a health
professional with education and experience in lactation science.
An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) has
extensive experience counseling women about breastfeeding, and in
addition is required to have certain minimum educational requirements
before even sitting for the certification exam. After passing the
exam, board certified lactation consultants are required to take
Continuing Education in lactation management. Look for the credentials
"IBCLC" when choosing a lactation consultant.
Human
Milk Banking Association of North America
Human milk is a precious resource.
Even with milk banks, the availability of donor milk is very limited.
Sometimes, a mother chooses not to breastfeed, or for whatever reason
is unable to breastfeed. Some babies MUST receive human milk in
order to survive. In these cases, doctors will prescribe human milk
for the child. In a perfect world, all babies would receive breastmilk,
either from their mother or from a donor, and the artificial milk
industry would be very limited. Wouldn't it be wonderful if "formula"
were only available by prescription?

American
